Referential currencyThe entrance ticket to Machu Picchu is nominative (by the name and document number), for a specific date (any day of the year) and valid for about 4 hours. This ticket can be used one time only. The entrance and the visit of the optional sites (Wayna Picchu, Machu Mountain and Museum) have a cost. This entrance cannot be sold separately and you must decide when you purchase online if you want to visit Machu Picchu only or Machu Picchu and one of the optional sites (differences between Wayna Picchu and Machu Mountain).

Machu Picchu VIP tickets are valid for any day of the year and are independent of the availability (more information). They include the entrance to Machu Picchu and a visit for 90 minutes with the Circuit 3 with a Spanish/English spoken private guide.

Upon your arrival by train in Aguas Calientes, you must go to the entrance of Machu Picchu. The ascent can be done on foot (free, in about 1 hour) or by bus. Buses depart from 5:30 AM every 30 minutes, and the journey takes 20 minutes. Tickets can be purchased for one way (ascent), return (descent), or round trip.

A guide for visiting Machu Picchu is no longer mandatory; however, a guided tour of the Citadel offers an enriching experience, allowing for a deeper understanding of the site and its history. The price is for the entire group, regardless of the number of visitors and includes a private guide, their salary, transportation, and meals. Please note that guides only conduct visits on the Machu Picchu circuit and are not allowed to go or climb (by regulation) to other sites such as Machu Mountain, Wayna Picchu, Huchuy Picchu, or the Inca Bridge. Tipping is optional and up to each persons discretion.
